Alexandria junior B Glens announce new head coach, main camp details
It may be hockey’s off-season, but the business of the ice game continues, as the Alexandria Glens have announced a new head coach and details for the team’s 2021 main training camp.
Sean Power will be taking over as the bench boss for the 2021-22 season.
In the words of general manager Derick Viau, “Sean is a bright coach and great leader who has a track record of both effectively developing young players and successfully motivating veterans. We love his coaching resume and are confident that he has learned from every stop during his career and has the best skill set to get the maximum potential out of our team.”
Power’s hockey playing career was highlighted by play in Europe’s professional ranks.Upon the conclusion of his professional playing career, he started coaching his son at the ‘AA’ and ‘AAA’ levels.
One of Power’s first duties will be to oversee the Glens training camp, scheduled for August 27 to 29, at the Maxville arena. Online registration for the camp is available at camp.alexandriaglens.com
From the announcement, “Attending the main camp is the first step in becoming a Glens player and competing in the EOJHL. Our coaching and scouting staff use these camps to evaluate new talent that will compete to join our team for the upcoming season and to build new relationships with future prospects. This upcoming season the Alexandria Glens will be looking for upwards of 10 players.”

The Glens had previously planned a June prospects camp in Cornwall, but that had to be scrubbed due to provincial COVID-19 restrictions.
Similar rules meant there wasn’t a competitive 2019-20 season for the Glens, with the team restricted to limited scrimmages versus two opponents.
