Laggan scores GSL senior women's soccer championship
Overtime golden goal secures trophy
The Glengarry Soccer League’s summer outdoor season for senior women’s teams came to a close recently, when Laggan edged Dunvegan 3-2 in overtime of game three of the championship series.
Laggan took the series opener on August 18 with a 2-1 effort on the pitch at Lochiel. Dunvegan responded in game two on their home turf, prevailing 1-0 five days later.
The finale was played on August 25, again in Dunvegan.

To reach the final series, Dunvegan’s senior women’s team swept Maxville, on scores of 8-0 and 8-1, while Laggan dispatched Glen Sandfield 4-1 and 5-0.
Dunvegan topped the regular-season standings, ahead of Laggan. Glen Sandfield places third, followed by Maxville and Loch Garry, the latter of which missed out on the playoffs.
The regular season really was a two-horse race throughout the summer, with Dunvegan and Laggan neck-and-neck. Meanwhile, Maxville and Glen Sandfield jostled for third place. Loch Garry ended the campaign winless, having scored a division-low 8 goals through 12 matches.
