Lowe goes low for golf club championship
Alexandria’s Ben Lowe is the 2021 club champion at the Glengarry Golf and Country Club. The 21-year-old shot a two-day score of 154 to win the A flight and the overall crown at his local golf course.

The Bishop’s University (Lennoxville) student-athlete and graduate of Glengarry District High School (Alexandria) won by 13 strokes over another young Alexandria golfer, Felix Sauve.
Lowe tells me that his “ball-striking was pretty good. It definitely helped me stay close. Need to tighten up my short game a little bit before the school season!”
In the B flight, club captain Jean-Marc Titley topped the field, shooting 174, which was three better than runner-up Marc Sauve. Paul Villeneuve finished third, with a two-day score of 178.
The C flight division crown was claimed by Alex MacMillan (168), while Brian Lafleur placed second in the group (170), and Mike Lesyk finished third (182).
Bill Shield triumphed in the senior division, shooting 157 over the two days. Denis Barsalo was second (159), followed by Mark Rolland (170).
The 36-hold club championship tournament was held August 21 and 22 in decidedly hot, humid conditions.
The Alexandria golf course also recently held the 2021 edition of the Alexandria open. For details, please see this earlier story.
