Senior A hockey league eyes cross-province partnership
The Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League is partnering with another senior ‘A’ league based in the western part of the province.
Come the 2021-22 season, the EOSHL will be working with the new WOSHL (Western Ontario Super Hockey League), partnering for a championship series, featuring the winners of each of the leagues. The EOSHL and WOSHl also plan to host a home-and-home all-star series.
Mitch Gagne, EOSHL president, says, “We would like to wish Jamie Petrie, the president of the WOSHL, the best of luck starting their new league. The main rules will be compatible [with] the EOSHL.” The western Ontario league is based in the Stratford region.
As for a possible local senior ‘A’ hockey season this winter, the EOSHL remains optimistic: “All owners have met over the last couple months multiple times and have a few scenarios for the new year. We hope to bring all you fans some news early in the new year.”
Teams in our area include the Cornwall Prowlers (2020 champs), the Maxville Mustangs, and the Glengarry Pipers.
