The off-season has been a busy one for the Glengarry Pipers of the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League (senior A).

The most recent player signing is Green Valley’s Tristen Elie, who joins the club in a trade with the Maxville Mustangs.

The 25-year-old forward spent the last two seasons with the Maxville senior team. His hockey resume includes time in U-Sports (Carleton), major junior (Gatineau, London), and the CCHL (Cornwall, Hawkesbury).

Other recent signings include Alain Ravary (assistant coach, third-string goaltender), local defenceman Adam Paquette, forward Nathan Sauve, and defenceman Keean Mceachern.

Tryout camp announced

The team’s 2021 tryout camp has been scheduled for September 11, at the arena in Vankleek Hill.

Prospective Pipers are invited to e-mail the team at glengarrypipers@gmail.com to register for the camp.

New home for 2021-22 season

Due to the closure of the Glengarry Sports Palace this winter for repairs, the Glengarry Pipers will play their home games at the arena in Vankleek Hill.

The Pipers were slated to play their inaugural season in the EOSHL last winter, but that was nixed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The league’s first season of senior A hockey in Eastern Ontario featured four teams, with the Cornwall Prowlers winning the championship.

The 2021-22 campaign is set to feature 12 clubs, divided into two conferences of six teams each, with a target start date of September 25.
